The temple of Habu
The mortuary temple, or the Temple of Medinet Habu, or the Temple of Ramses III; is considered one of the greatest temples of the Twentieth Dynasty. It was built by King Ramses III for his funerary rituals and the worship of the god Amun.
It is a unique structure in Egypt, and Ramses III ordered its construction in the style of the Syrian fortresses known as “Mujdal.”
The temple still retains its magnificent, vibrant colors despite the passage of thousands of years. It also contains strange and unique inscriptions, such as a pile of severed male genitalia, which could be a strong message to Egypt’s enemies. The Sea Peoples at that time wanted to overthrow the Pharaonic rule and seize Egypt, but Ramses III was able to defeat them both on land and at sea, and he recorded this on the walls of the Medinet Habu temple
