The mummification museum

The Mummification Museum in Luxor is distinguished as the only museum of its kind specialized in documenting mummification processes in ancient Egypt. The museum highlights the mummification processes from the time of death until the end of the burial ceremonies, which last for about 70 days.

The museum displays around 73 artifacts that provide a comprehensive understanding of the entire mummification process by explaining the religious significance of mummification and the rituals associated with it from the Old Kingdom to the Late Period, along with showcasing many of the tools used. The museum also exhibits a collection of canopic jars, intricately decorated coffins, amulets, deity statues, and funerary paintings.

The museum also displays a number of human mummies and a collection of animal mummies such as crocodiles, cats, and fish.
